The Policy
This policy provides cover for independent medical professionals against different types of claims and regulatory proceedings that may be brought against them and their employees arising from their business as medical professionals.

The policy provides the following cover up to £10,000,000 (total aggregate amount per year):
- Medical Professional Liability
- Claims for financial loss arising from your business as a medical practitioner
- Public Liability Claims for personal injury or property damage arising from your business
- Claims arising from the use of products in the course of your business
- Cover for claims arising from a matter which you should have told us about during the period of a previous insurance policy, if it was issued by us and you have been continuously insured by us
- Vicarious liability
- Cover for claims made and claims arising from circumstances notified during the period of insurance
- Assistance with regulatory matters such as inquests, GMC investigations and disciplinary investigations
- Access to a 24/7 Medical Legal Advice line

The Board meet regularly to discuss developments in the sector, share best practice and carry out their statutory duties and responsibilities as company directors.
The Board’s aims are:
- To be available to give advice to potential new policy holders
- To support policy holders who are in difficulty with medico legal cases
- To set clinical standards for policy holders to adhere to as closely as possible
- To advise brokers and underwriters on the relative risk of different clinical practices
- To try to reduce premium costs by appropriate risk management
- To communicate with members by newsletters, webinars and meetings.
